SYNOPSIS
For two days, the summer sky has been veiled by smoke. Due to the soot, the daughter of the Slovenian pastor Andrej Stoka has begun to cough and sneeze in recent hours. Then night falls.
Andrej, his wife, and daughter, like all the residents of Ceroglie in the Italian Karst, can no longer see the stars, only a red halo above the underbrush and the black pines of Mount Hermada.
Andrej decides to sleep in the barn with his flock of 250 sheep, as he would escape with them if the fire advanced toward his farm. He stays there for three consecutive nights, overwhelmed by anxiety and fear for his life, his flock, his family, and the future of his farm.
